There are an estimated
54 million people with disabilities in the United States. Within the
working-age group of those with disabilities only 32 percent are employed.
But the National Organization on Disabilities (N.O.D.) says two-thirds of
those jobless would prefer to be working.
- Nearly three in ten Hispanic workers have
experienced discrimination or unfair treatment at work in the United States.

California is the most diverse state in the United States. Census Bureau
statistics show African Americans, Asians, Native Americans and Hispanics
make up 64% of the state's population. Almost 40% speak a language other
than English at home.

U.S. Government statistics show women earn roughly 80 cents for every dollar
a man makes.

commonly targeted aspect of diversity - cited by 54 percent of organizations
surveyed while only 31 percent reported having programs focusing on

organizations surveyed reported that managers/partners in their
organizations were held accountable for meeting specific diversity goals and

to a recent report by the U.S. Department of Education whites make up
85 percent of
all faculty members at public and private colleges in the United States.
Blacks and Asian Americans make up only
5 percent each, while
Latinos account for 4 percent.
Native-American faculty members represent less than
1 percent.

The number
of Spanish-dominant and bilingual Latinos will increase by 45 percent
over the next two decades—adding 12.4 million Spanish speakers to the
population. This is according to a recent study by Hispanic USA.

Only 22 states and Puerto Rico specifically prohibit employers from
inquiring about applicants' marital status. That means "maternal profiling"
is a real problem for many women.
